So, the day has come. Stella went into surgery today to have a cataract removed from her right eye. We haven’t mentioned this prior to today because we partly thought it would go away (yeah, we know that’s impossible), but also because it made us really sad to think that our 3-year-old fur child would need such serious (and uber expensive) surgery.
Stella and I took the A train to NYC Veterinary Specialists (AKA the fanciest and nicest hospital I have EVER seen) at 7:20 AM, and by 8:30 AM she was admitted and prepped for surgery. But before she left to go to surgery I had to get money for the procedure, so I left her with the receptionists so I could run to the bank. I come back and there’s no one at the front desk. I get closer to the front desk and find all the receptionists and some techs on the floor cuddling, kissing, and petting Stella. Stella looks up at me with her big brown eyes and the biggest smile. I felt really good leaving her after this tender moment. I saw how much the people who work at this pet hospital love animals, and especially Stella. Say a little prayer for Stella that surgery goes well, she heals quickly, and that there are no complications after the surgery.
